Senior Leadership Development Program (SLDP)

PURPOSE Strong leadership is needed today to guide companies through the turbulence of change, innovation and economic swings in our industry. Leaders not only provide the strategic vision for the company, but also ensure they take care of the most precious resource – our people. Good leaders set a culture that holds everyone accountable for the professional and personal welfare of each individual and the team as a whole. As an organization, ACEC/MW desires to build strong bonds in order to “serve the business needs of its professional member firms”. The ACEC/MW SLDP is intended to offer participants an opportunity to: · Develop Individual Personal and Professional Growth · Provide Networking Opportunities · Increase Awareness of Differing Firms · Provide Personal Recognition for Future Leaders
The SLDP will allow participants to develop a greater self-awareness to assist in clarifying and establishing their own values and leadership skills. In addition, it will increase personal knowledge and skills, business acumen and awareness of the environment and provide opportunities to engage in discussions to develop a broader corporate perspective. Specifically, the program will: · Enhance a career through personal development, improved understanding of the business of engineering, and a broadened understanding of social, technical, economic, political context in which they, their clients and the public operate. · Develop a strong peer network as a resource for future business challenges. · Through collaboration, develop better understanding of customers and partners, with a focus on Strategic Vision. · Have an opportunity to be mentored by an executive from the firm. · Have an opportunity to receive a 360 degree assessment and professional coaching for development and advancement of individual goals. · Attend part or all of the ACEC Annual Convention and Legislative Summit as a guest.
Participants: · The goal for the group is to represent a broad cross-disciplinary, diverse group from the participating firms. · No more than 2 participants per firm. · Between 10-20 years experience · Each applicant will select a senior level executive in their organization as a mentor · Each applicant will be committed to class attendance and support to the team · Each applicant will participate in the 360 degree assessment and outside of class coaching sessions · Complete the application package describing: interest in participating; ability and potential to lead; and benefits to themselves and the local chapter. Applicants will be judged on completeness and quality of their application. · Individual participants agree to sign up for one of several options at the conclusion of the program: o Lead and support the SLDP class (5 participants) o Agree to support ACEC projects as assigned by Board (10 participants) o Serve as mentors to ACEC junior leaders (10 participants)
