ACEC/MW Facilities Committee
Jeff Nelson, PE - Chair
Committee Mission: Identify key decision makers in the public and private facilities markets and establish a conduit with key decision makers for engineering companies to exchange information in order to improve the business environment in Metropolitan Washington.
The Facilities Committee has been active in arranging meetings with key decision makers for public and private facilities to learn how they do business and identify business opportunities for ACEC members. Recent meetings have been held with the General Services Administration, Smithsonian Institution, DC Department of General Services, George Mason University, and Montgomery County Department of General Services. This year we will be forming subcommittees to provide a better focus on our various markets: Federal, District of Columbia, Maryland Counties, Virginia Counties, Education, and Health Care.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Wednesday, September 17th.
ACEC/MW Legislative Committee

Committee Mission: Monitor, advise and educate ACEC/MW members and local, state and national legislators in Metropolitan Washington DC regarding issues of importance in the engineering and surveying community.
The Legislative Committee is relaunching this year with a revitalized focus to actively monitor legislative and regulatory issues affecting our members in the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties and Northern Virginia. We will be engaging with Congressional, state and local elected and administrative officials; with regional entities and enhance our efforts to educate while advocating as ACEC/MW on behalf of our members.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday, September 23rd.
ACEC/MW Membership & Development Committee
Lesley Arnott Rogers, CPSM - Chair
Athavale, Lystad & Associates, Inc.
Committee Mission: Foster the growth of the ACEC/MW through stewardship of the membership recruitment and retention program.
The Membership & Development Committee actively seeks new members and associate members for the ACEC/MW organization. The Membership Committee also is proactive in working with the board and other committees to optimize the benefits received by ACEC/MW member firms. Additionally, the Membership Committee plays an important role in advising the Board as to various processes involving member and potential member firms, including welcome to new members, and member involvement in committees, as well as seeking out and highlighting topics and industry sectors that are important to members so that they may be addressed as appropriate.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Friday, September 19th.
ACEC/MW Programs Committee

Pennoni Associates Inc.
Committee Mission: Conceptualize and plan monthly Business Opportunities Luncheons, seminars, annual meeting, breakfast roundtables and special events.
The Programs Committee is responsible for developing and organizing special interest programs involving industry leaders, public officials and other key individuals related to the various facets of the engineering discipline within the A/E/C industry. Programming is focused around current trends and notable regional projects, and to augment ACEC/MWs position as an industry resource in providing networking, B2B prospects, and educational opportunities to our member firms and the industry as a whole.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday, September 9th.
ACEC/MW Transportation Committee
Brian Banks, PG - Chair
Committee Mission: Develop relationships, make contacts, educate members, and influence the business environment for the highway, aviation, and transit markets within Metropolitan Washington.
The Transportation Committee actively meets with key decision makers for local transportation authorities to learn how they do business, and identify business opportunities for ACEC members. The Transportation Committee is organized into five subcommittees: DC, Virginia, Maryland, Transit and Aviation. Recent partnering meetings and training seminars have been held with the District Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Transportation Central Office, Virginia Department of Transportation Northern Virginia District and Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. This year we aim to expand our meetings to VRE, WMATA and local Counties including Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, and Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun Counties in Virginia.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Friday, September 26th.
ACEC/MW Water Infrastructure Committee
Robert Krallinger - Chair
Committee Mission: Develop relationships, make contacts, educate members, and influence the business environment for water/wastewater, site remediation and water resources in Metropolitan Washington.
The Water Infrastructure Committee actively plans meetings and interacts with key decision makers at local municipalities and utility authorities . These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by our clients and gain a greater understanding of the role that the consulting community is performing. In addition to the meetings, the committee also schedules facility tours at major water and wastewater treatment and conveyance systems throughout the region. These facility tours are typically guided by the owner’s engineering and operations staff. Recent meetings have been conducted at DC Water, WSSC, Fairfax Water. Previous facility tours have included the Dalecarlia Water Treatment Plant, the Griffith Water Treatment Plant and the Alexandria Renew wastewater treatment plant.
Committee meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. The next scheduled meeting is for Wednesday, September 10th.
ACEC/MW Awards Task Force

EBA Engineering, Inc.
Committee Mission: Develop a framework for an awards program to be implemented within ACEC/MW in order to recognize achievement in the industry, education, volunteerism and philanthropy.
The Awards Task Force is a new a new group being formed within ACEC/MW in order to more fully explore, plan and expand our effort to recognize those in the industry for what they do, have done and/or plan to do.
Task Force is just starting up - a schedule of meetings will be discussed at the first meeting - please contact the office with your interest to bring momentum to the discussion.
