A Note From Our Board Chair

ACEC Metropolitan Washington celebrated our 2023 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) Gala at the Mayflower in DC on the 14th of December. What a night! The industry showed up to celebrate innovation and excellence in engineering.
 
It has been an absolute honor to serve as the chair of ACEC/MW, and I would like to thank our ACEC/MW President, Hugh "Mac" Cannon, MPA, CAE for his leadership and Lisha Kampman, LC, LEED AP, Associate IALD for keeping us steady. Thank you to the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) - ACEC National for their support. It was great to have Steve HallMelvin Williams, F.SAME, FACECRalph Guida IV, Manish Kothari, and others from ACEC National celebrate with us.
 
The ACEC/MW EEA Task Force, led by Melissa McGarry, put in months of hard work and planning to bring this spectacular event to the DC Region! The ACEC Metropolitan Washington Board, Past Presidents, Chairs, and Vice-Chairs continue to work tirelessly to advance the goals of ACEC/MW. This association is strong because of their commitment and diligence in moving us forward, as seen this year.
 
It was great to see so many industry partners from District Department of Transportation (DDOT)Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)DC WaterVirginia Department of Transportation and WSSC Water and so many client partners celebrating with us.
 
Congratulations to the 2023 Engineering Industry Leadership Award winner, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)'s Randy Clarke, for championing best practices and innovation in project procurement and project delivery and demonstrating continuous involvement and engagement with ACEC/MW and its member firms. It was a well-deserved award!
 
We are gearing up for a STEM event at the end of Feb, our Golf Scholarship Tournament at 1757 Golf Club on April 22nd and our upcoming Annual conference on June 6th. As we start 2024 on a high note, please know that I am immensely grateful to be working with you all and look forward to executing on our strategic goals of education, engaging and advocating.  
 
Lastly, as this is a volunteer organization, I would like to thank all our member volunteers who work tirelessly to advance our goals. Thank you to all the committee chairs and vice-chairs, past and present. We are stronger because of you.
